HDR Day

Creating new forms of engagement (in partnership with Sydney Rugby Union)

Sydney Rugby Union (SRU) are developing a strategy to use an enhanced digital broadcast presence (inclusive of the new Stan Sports platform as well as apps or other tools) and maximise leverage for participation, social and commercial outcomes for the game and clubs.

Dr David Bond (SRU Board Member),  John Abi-Saab (Vice President SRU/ Former General Manager of Lebanon Rugby and West Harbour Rugby, Sydney) and Dr Ashleigh-Jane Thompson (La Trobe University) will form the SMAANZ Hackathon panel. The panel will present a problem statement, presentation and task for students to develop concepts/ideas. Students will work in small teams and have 30 minutes in a break out group to create and develop a one-page slide for a 3 minute presentation to present back to the panel. Presentations will be judged on a formulated criteria.

The SMAANZ Hackathon will be hosted on Zoom. You can access by clicking here.

Registrations are now open for the SMAANZ Social Olympics. You can do so by clicking here. Registrations will close Tuesday 1 December, 11:59pm AEDT.

What to expect?

This event will be run on Zoom and hosted by Dane Norton. We will place attendees into teams, and then set up break out rooms so you can get to know your team. Your teams will come up with a team name and work out a strategy for the Social Olympics. We will then enter the main room and compete in a number of fun based games to earn points for your teams.

Although this is an HDR Student event, we welcome anyone to join in on the fun! All you need to do is RSVP and we will send the access link. If you have any questions or issues with accessing this session please contact SMAANZ.
