Abstracts are now open for SMAANZ Week 2021, which includes the face to face (Canberra) and online or virtual conference (HopIn) events for November and December 2021.

The detail for the conference are as follows.

* Please note that these figures are based on SMAANZ membership valued at $100 for full members and $40 for student members. Delegate fees will be reduced if SMAANZ membership for 2021/22 is reduced, which will be confirmed ahead of the opening of registrations.

Abstract Process

The abstract process will be as follows:

Submit your abstract before 11.59pm (AEST) on September 17, 2021 using the online form (details on required style and structure can be found here)

At the time of submission you will be asked to nominate your preference for either: a) the face to face conference (in Canberra) or b) an online presentation using the HopIn option

You will receive notification of acceptance in early October, when registration for the various options will open

Conference Options

The online conference is confirmed and will be held in November 2021.

Please note that given the uncertainty caused by ongoing health advice and travel restrictions, the SMAANZ Board and UC SMAANZ Conference Organising Committee do reserve the right to withdraw or cancel the face to face conference prior to the event, based on health advice and travel restrictions at the time. To guide this process:

-The intention to hold the face to face conference will be confirmed ahead of October 4 (the time of opening for SMAANZ Week 2021 registrations). This will based on the interest from SMAANZ members in attending a face to face conference in Canberra, and information available at this time.

The final decision to hold the face to face conference will be subject to the SMAANZ Board and UC SMAANZ Conference Organising Committee and may be made up until late November (pending government advice and restrictions at this time).

 In the event of cancellation of the face to face conference, a refund policy will apply to the SMAANZ Conference fee only (i.e. this policy will not cover accommodation or travel costs). As such, please ensure any early bookings you make outside of the conference fee consider this point. The membership component of the conference fee will not be refunded

Awards and Grants

We are thrilled to announce that we are opening the following awards as part of SMAANZ 2021: Best Conference Paper, Student Research Award, Distinguished Service Award, and the Student Travel Assistance Bursary. We encourage you to consider submitting an application for one of these awards. Please note,  eligibility for a SMAANZ Award requires a valid SMAANZ Membership. The deadline for award application submission is the same date as the abstract submission deadline: Friday 17-September, 2021.
